Man charged in homicides within days in Montgomery and Prince Georges counties
Police in Montgomery County said Wednesday that they arrested a second man in a fatal shooting after an armed robbery last month — and Prince George’s County police said the same man is a suspect in a homicide last week.
The new charges in both counties were filed against Furl John Williams, 24, who police said has no fixed address.
On April 29 at about 12:55 a.m., officers responded to the 12800 block of Kitchen House Way in Germantown for the report of a shooting, Montgomery County police said in a statement. They found 19-year-old Amaru Amir Santos Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was transferred to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the statement said. Three other shooting victims were transported to hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.
An investigation showed that two armed men robbed two people in the parking lot in the 12800 block of Kitchen House Way before a shooting between the men and their victims broke out at a residence there, according to the statement.

On May 4, 23-year-old Eric Lee was arrested in the killing after being named by victims, and was charged with first-degree murder and home invasion, police said.
On Tuesday, Williams also was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and home invasion in the Germantown case, according to police, who said he shot Johnson and three others. Williams was linked to the shooting after his fingerprints were discovered on a vehicle stolen during a carjacking April 17 that contained property belonging to victims of the Kitchen House Way shooting, according to police.
Prince George’s County police, meanwhile, said Wednesday that Williams was charged with the murder of 27-year-old Wayne Pope of Suitland, who was shot at a gas station in the 4700 block of Silver Hill Road in Suitland shortly after midnight May 3. Pope had gone into the station to make a purchase and was returning to his car when, police allege, Williams approached with a gun and shot Pope during a struggle before stealing Pope’s car.
Williams was in custody and was being held without bond in Montgomery County, police said.
